Meet Coconut: The Rare War Horse with Stunning Native American Significance

When Scott and Jackie Nelson first laid eyes on Coconut the horse, they were amazed to discover she was from their hometown of Melbourne, Florida.

Coconut’s stunning appearance has captivated more than three million people worldwide, and it’s easy to see why. The couple, who run a ranch called Down Under Colour, began filming Coconut when she was just two days old to capture and share her beauty with the world.

By the time Coconut turned two, the Nelsons took her outside for her debut on camera, showcasing her extraordinary markings. According to a YouTube description, Coconut is known as a “War Horse,” a title given to horses with rare and significant features. In Native American culture, the War Horse was revered, often ridden by a chief or a medicine man, who were respected spiritual leaders.

To be considered a true War Horse, the horse must have one blue eye encircled by dark eyeliner and a shield-shaped marking on its chest. In Native American mythology, this blue eye is called the Sky Eye. It was believed that if the chief or medicine man fell in battle, the horse’s Sky Eye would carry their spirits to the gods. This sacred symbolism makes Coconut an especially rare and precious horse.

If you’re as captivated by Coconut’s unique beauty as so many others are, be sure to watch the video below and share her incredible story with your friends.
