Paul Skinner, a 58-year-old man, was out biking with a few friends when something unusual caught their attention. As they were riding down a secluded road, they noticed movement in a nearby ditch. Curious about what it could be, they decided to get a closer look. As they approached, they were met with a heartbreaking sight—an abandoned, frightened dog desperately clinging to a sack in her mouth.
When the men opened the sack, they were shocked by what they found inside. Tragically, the bag contained four lifeless puppies, all seemingly born on the same day. Horrified by the discovery, the group immediately contacted the authorities. Animal shelter representatives arrived on the scene, taking in the dog and giving her the name Carly.
After conducting an investigation, authorities concluded that Carly had been abandoned in that ditch alongside her newborn puppies. Despite being left behind, Carly had refused to leave her pups, standing guard over them even though they had been trapped in a tightly knotted plastic bag. Carly had clearly been unable to free her puppies from the bag, which sealed their fate. It is our hope that Carly’s owner will be found and held accountable for this horrific act of cruelty. Not only did this person abandon Carly and her puppies, but they also condemned them to die by placing them in that plastic bag. It’s a heinous crime, deserving of severe punishment.
Carly is a spaniel cocker, a breed known for its loyalty and gentle nature. Unfortunately, stories of animal abuse and abandonment are becoming more and more common. Stricter laws and harsher penalties are urgently needed to deter such cruelty.
As for Carly, we can only hope that she finds a loving home and the care she deserves. Despite the harsh conditions she endured—facing extreme heat and lack of food and water—she remained with her puppies until the very end, displaying extraordinary bravery and devotion.
