Jason Momoa Introduces New Girlfriend on Instagram: A Look at Their Unexpected Romance

Jason Momoa’s New Relationship Sparks Buzz After Instagram Debut

On Monday, Jason Momoa officially introduced his new girlfriend to the world on Instagram, and ever since, the couple has been the talk of the internet.

While Momoa has dropped hints about their long-standing relationship for some time, the public reveal still took many by surprise.

The 44-year-old actor first met his 32-year-old girlfriend, actress Adria Arjona, on the set of the 2021 Netflix film Sweet Girl. At the time, he was still married to Lisa Bonet. But there’s an important detail—Momoa and Bonet had been living separately for over five years, even though they were still legally married.

Momoa made sure there was no overlap between his marriage and his new relationship. He and Bonet officially announced their separation on October 7, 2020, and she filed for divorce on January 8 of this year. Their divorce was finalized just a day later in an amicable settlement.

With the separation behind him, Momoa recently shared a carousel of pictures from his and Arjona’s trip to Japan, publicly showing their affection. In the caption, Momoa called Arjona “mi amor” (which translates to “my love” in English), and the sweet photos told the rest of the story. In one image, Arjona rests her hand gently on his arm, while Momoa embraces her in a warm, protective hug—a clear sign of their blossoming relationship.

“Japan, you are a dream come true; you blew my mind,” Momoa wrote in the caption. He went on to thank everyone who welcomed them and shared how much he appreciated creating memories with new and old friends during their journey. “Motorcycles and chaos on the road. My sincere regards, J,” he concluded.

Arjona, who previously married lawyer Edgardo Canales in 2019, has kept the details of her breakup relatively private, and it’s unclear whether a formal divorce took place.

Though it seems Arjona has only recently entered Momoa’s life, she’s already been embraced by his inner circle. Notably, his stepdaughter Zoë Kravitz selected Arjona to direct Blink Twice, starring Channing Tatum, which will be released in theaters on August 23. With Kravitz and Tatum now engaged, it’s likely that Momoa, Bonet, and Lenny Kravitz will all be in attendance at what is expected to be a spectacular wedding.

Bonet and Momoa, who were together for 13 years before tying the knot in 2017, share two children—16-year-old Lola and 15-year-old Nakoa-Wolf. Although they have largely kept their family life private, they announced their split in January 2022 through a joint statement on Instagram: “We’ve all felt the strain and changes of these transformational times… A revolution is happening, and our family is not immune… we are growing and learning from these seismic shifts.”

The statement emphasized that their decision to separate was not taken lightly, but was made in the interest of living truthfully and with integrity.
