Valerie Bertinelli Finds New Love After Heartbreak: The Journey Continues
Valerie Bertinelli, who once made it clear that she was no longer interested in dating, has revealed a new relationship on Instagram, following the heartache of her past engagements.
The 63-year-old actress made her relationship public last Friday by posting a selfie on Instagram, accompanied by lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song “So High School,” which many believe is about Swift’s rumored relationship with NFL star Travis Kelce. This post comes two years after her divorce from Tom Vitale and four years after the death of her first husband, Eddie Van Halen.
In her Instagram post, Bertinelli wrote, “I’ll drink what you think, and I’m high from smokin’ your jokes all damn night,” leaving fans buzzing with excitement.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Bertinelli’s new partner is writer Mike Goodnough, also known as the Hoarse Whisperer, a popular figure on social media.
Earlier this month, Bertinelli hinted at her new romance in an interview with USA TODAY. “I’ve met someone,” she shared, adding, “I’m really grateful for him. This connection is unlike any I’ve ever experienced before. I feel so lucky to have met him, but I don’t want to share too many details. I was ready to live out my days happy, surrounded by my six cats and dog.”
Goodnough confirmed the relationship on his Substack blog, titled “Rumors, Rumors, Rumors…”. In a humorous post, he wrote about how he jokingly asked Bertinelli, “Is there any truth to the rumor that you’re dating me? Care to comment?”
To his surprise, Bertinelli responded, “It’s true. Yes, I am. You are my partner in life.”
Bertinelli has recently opened up about her past marriage to Eddie Van Halen in her new cookbook, Indulge, which was released on April 12. In the book, she reflects on their relationship, saying, “Ed and I never stopped loving each other, even though we divorced.”
She continued, “Who knows, if not for the cancer, we might have had a second chance,” though she admits that this thought is more “wishful thinking” than reality.
As for her current relationship with Goodnough, Bertinelli shared that they first connected through social media in 2016 or 2017. After following each other, they began exchanging messages in 2018, and their friendship blossomed into something more after her divorce from Vitale in 2022.
Speaking about Goodnough, she described him as “a really funny, incredibly talented writer,” and it’s clear that his humor has captured her heart.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Bertinelli revealed, “I’m in love,” admitting that she never thought she would fall in love again. Despite her hesitations, it’s clear that she’s enjoying this new chapter in her life.
We’re thrilled to see Valerie happy again!
