Woman’s Bold Blind Date Test Backfires: A Costly Lesson in Generosity

When a woman’s plan took an unexpected detour, her attempt to test her date’s generosity backfired in a way she never anticipated. In an unusual move, she brought 23 family members to a blind date in hopes of gauging her partner’s willingness to share. What happened next, however, was far from what she had imagined.

The woman’s plan, although bold, was poorly executed. She thought that by bringing her entire extended family, she could test Mr. Lui’s generosity. Mr. Lui had invited Miss Zhang to one of his favorite restaurants, hoping to make a good impression. But to his surprise, Miss Zhang arrived not just with herself but with 23 of her family members. Naturally, Mr. Lui was shocked and objected to footing the bill for such a large gathering, leading to an awkward and uncomfortable situation.

According to Taizhou Evening News, a local newspaper in Zhejiang Province, China, the strange incident occurred at a well-known restaurant in the area. Miss Zhang’s goal, however dubious, was to see just how generous Mr. Lui was when it came to supporting her and her family. Given that it was only their first meeting, the plan to bring so many relatives clearly lacked foresight and execution.

During the meal, it became evident that Mr. Lui did not agree with Miss Zhang’s approach to measuring generosity. Rather than quietly paying the massive bill, Mr. Lui chose to leave the restaurant without a word, leaving Miss Zhang to handle the consequences on her own. The final tab for the extravagant dinner came to a staggering 20,000 yuan, or roughly $3,100, a bill Miss Zhang was left to face alone.

Not satisfied with how the night had turned out, Miss Zhang took things a step further. She filed a lawsuit against Mr. Lui, feeling betrayed by how the blind date had unfolded. However, the court ruled that Mr. Lui was only responsible for paying 1,400 yuan of the total amount.

Looking back, Miss Zhang’s attempt to test her date’s generosity was both expensive and unsuccessful. While her intentions may have been good, the method she chose to assess Mr. Lui’s character backfired in a big way. This story is a reminder that communication and honesty are far more valuable in relationships than trying to stage elaborate tests.
